Methven Mud and Steel will be a weekend of 4WD Winch Challenges which will be held on Saturday October 12th and Sunday 13th 2019 at Carneys Road, Alford Forest, a 10 minutes drive from Methven. This is a rapidly growing sport where competitors tackle impossible slopes, bottomless mud holes and all against the clock.
Methven Mud and Steel kicks off with some of New Zealand’s toughest custom-built race trucks, attempting to race on 20, purpose-built tracks, which are set up so that, just to finish, is to win. Can you pick a truck that will still be racing at the end of Saturday? One wrong move today, means total commitment to place in the final points, to find New Zealand’s top team and truck.
This sees the repaired trucks, and battered teams, swap to the other half of the courses, which have now been chewed up to become either vertical walls of destruction, or men and machine swallowing pits of doom for the teams. All the while however, the clock keeps ticking down to stage disqualification time.
